Excerpts from the 24 min. interview:
Paula Butturini has written a gripping story, “Keeping the Feast”, of her husband's shooting in Romania and subsequent recovery and depression. Her passion for food, and its home-cooked goodness, brings a balance of flavor and emotion to this survival story.
On living with depression: “It's not just the person who's ill who needs treatment. The whole family needs treatment.”
On victims of depression: "People who get through depression are absolute heros!"
On anti-depressant medications: “Anti-depressants don't work at all for a large number of people. Drug companies and doctors rarely talk about drug-resistant depression.”
On writing about food: “Nobody could have read the story if I had focused on just the negative stuff... it was too grim.”

Please, may I have some more?
This seven minute podcast is a continuation of our interview with Paula Butturini on "Keeping the Feast". It covers clam sauce made with a touch of Vermouth, asparagus steamed with lettuce... our mouths were watering for a few more questions after the interview was over.
Paula shares with us the secrets of perfectly steamed aspargus, as well as her thoughts on real food and how food is introduced to children in Italy.
We are hoping for a cookbook as her next project!

On finding your passion: “Balzac wrote: 'Happiness is making your passion your job.'... Your ambition should serve your mission.”
On writing: “I wanted to write about the concept of 'belief' (“L'homme qui voulait être heureux”).
His next book (“Dieu voyage toujours incognito”) is about taking risks in life. We'll check in with Laurent after his book launches in February… if we dare!!!
